Driving theory test in English in Ukraine: who can take it and what documents are needed

Foreigners and stateless persons who legally reside or stay in Ukraine can take the driving theory test at an MIA service centre in English. The MIA Main Service Centre reminded of this while telling the story of a citizen of Nepal who has served under contract in Ukraine’s military since 2022 and took the theory test in English in Kolomyia.

• foreigners and stateless persons legally staying in Ukraine can take the theory test in English;
• it is worth telling the administrator in advance that you want to take the test in English;
• you need an identity document confirming legal stay, a medical certificate and a payment receipt;
• a taxpayer registration number is submitted if available.

Who can take the test in English

The service is available to foreigners and stateless persons who legally reside or stay in Ukraine. The test is taken at an MIA service centre.

What documents are needed

To be admitted to the test, you need to provide the MIA service centre administrator with:

• a document proving identity and confirming legal stay in Ukraine: a permanent or temporary residence permit, or a valid passport document with a certified translation into Ukrainian;
• a taxpayer registration number — if available;
• a valid medical certificate of fitness to drive;
• a receipt for payment of the administrative service.

What to keep in mind

In the example given by the MIA Main Service Centre, the candidate told the administrators in advance that he would take the theory test in English.
