Права на причіп без року стажу: Кабмін спростив відкриття категорій BE, C1E і CE

You can now obtain a trailer driving licence without waiting a year: drivers no longer need a year of experience to drive a vehicle with a heavy trailer or an articulated lorry. The government adopted this decision on 7 October. It applies to categories BE, C1E and CE.

What Has Changed?

Previously, drivers with a newly issued category C licence had to gain one year of driving experience before they could train for category CE and drive an articulated lorry. Similarly, category B licence holders had to wait a year before obtaining category BE, which allows them to tow a trailer weighing more than 750 kg.
Now, there is no need to wait. Drivers only need to complete three steps:
– Hold a category B, C1 or C driving licence.
– Complete additional training at a driving school.
– Pass a practical driving test at a Ministry of Internal Affairs service centre.

Who Needs a Trailer Driving Licence?

Category BE is required for passenger car drivers who tow a heavy trailer carrying a boat, building materials, equipment or a caravan.
Category C1E is required for drivers of medium-sized goods vehicles weighing between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes with a trailer.
Category CE is intended for drivers of articulated lorries and heavy goods vehicles with trailers.
According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, the decision is intended to address the shortage of drivers more quickly and maintain stable logistics, particularly during the harvest transportation season.

How to Obtain a Trailer Licence: Step by Step

First, choose a driving school that offers additional training for the category you need. The course includes theory and practical driving lessons with a trailer.
After completing the course, the driving school issues a certificate that allows you to register for a practical driving test at a Ministry of Internal Affairs service centre. You can also book the test online via the

After passing the test, the new category will be added to your driving licence, which means you will need to replace your existing licence.

What Has Not Changed?

The age requirements for drivers remain unchanged. To drive a tractor with a trailer, you still need a tractor driver’s licence.

How Long Will the Simplified Rules Remain in Effect?

The new rules apply during martial law and for six months after it ends. So, if you are planning to obtain a trailer driving licence, now is the easiest time to do so.
