Over 1 million car sale contracts since the start of 2026: every fifth deal is made in Diia

Since the start of 2026, vehicle owners have signed over 1 million vehicle sale and purchase agreements, the MIA Main Service Centre reported. These include cars, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds, trailers, etc. Most deals are still made at MIA service centres, but every fifth one has already been signed online in Diia.

In short:

58.6% of agreements were signed at MIA service centres;
22% — online in the Diia app;
19.4% — through business entities;
at an MIA service centre, a sale and purchase agreement is drawn up free of charge;
in Diia, a seller who is a private individual can use the service once per calendar year.

Agreement at an MIA service centre

The buyer and seller can go to any convenient MIA service centre. The sale and purchase agreement is drawn up there free of charge.

The seller needs:

a passport of a citizen of Ukraine;
a taxpayer registration number;
the vehicle registration certificate.

The buyer needs a passport of a citizen of Ukraine and a taxpayer registration number.

After re-registration, the new owner receives a registration certificate in their name and, if desired, a new number plate.

Agreement online in Diia

In Diia, you can sign a sale and purchase agreement for a car, motorcycle or moped. The buyer and seller complete the deal remotely, confirm it with Diia.Signature and can choose new number plates if they wish. For a seller who is a private individual, the service is available once per calendar year.

In Diia, the seller must have a vehicle registration certificate, an ID card (or a passport for travel abroad or a residence permit), a registered place of residence and a taxpayer registration number. If any of these documents is not displayed in the app, the online service will be unavailable.

Before buying a used car
