The “Driver carrying children under three” sign: separate parking spaces from 14 October
Since 14 October 2026, amendments to the Traffic Rules and the Parking Rules have been in force in Ukraine: an identification sign “Driver carrying children under three” and separate parking spaces for such cars have been introduced. The changes were approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1238 of 7 October 2026. We explain how it works.
In short:
- the new identification sign is a blue square with a side of 150 mm and a white symbol;
- the sign is placed on the front and the rear of the car;
- a driver with this sign must have a document confirming the child’s age (paper or electronic);
- separate spaces are arranged in parking lots — at least 5% of the total number, but not fewer than one;
- parking in these spaces without the sign and without the document is prohibited.
What the sign looks like
The identification sign “Driver carrying children under three” is a blue square with a side of 150 mm and a white image of the symbol of plate 7.30. The sign is placed on the front and the rear of the motor vehicle driven by a driver who carries children under three.
What documents to carry
A driver of a car with this sign must carry a document (in paper or electronic form) confirming the age of the child they are carrying.
Passengers accompanying children must also, when stopping or parking in such spaces, carry a document confirming the child’s age and present it at the request of the driver or a police officer.
Where the separate spaces will be
- In parking lots, spaces are additionally arranged for cars of drivers who carry children under three and have the identification sign — at least 5% of the total number of spaces, but not fewer than one space.
- Such spaces are marked with road signs with the new plate 7.30 “Driver carrying children under three” and road markings.
- At the entrance to underground and multi-level car parks, these spaces must also be shown on the layout plan.
What is prohibited
The Traffic Rules prohibit stopping or parking in spaces reserved only for drivers carrying children under three if the car has no corresponding identification sign or there is no document confirming the child’s age.
